Employer-led

Across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw employers are showing up for their workforce when it comes to the cancer journey from prevention, earlier detection, workforce support and living with cancer.

It is estimated that half of new cancer diagnoses in the UK will be amongst working age people (18 to 64). A Macmillan survey found that 85% of people with cancer who were employed when diagnosed say it was important for them to continue work after diagnosis. (Source: YouGov 2016).

The Employer Hub has been created in response to employer feedback asking for centralised and quality-controlled resources to help them get started and share best practice when it comes to cancer. It is available and out for feedback and testing at https://employers.sybshowsup.com/

Eski is proud to have been driving this project forward as part of South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Shows Up from research, co-production, curating the best resources, and creating new ones that didn’t otherwise exist to help us better support each other throughout the cancer journey – it is very important work with the NHS, private sector and education showing up in abundance to help*

Thanks to B Braun, Hallamshire Physiotherapy and Oliver Coppard, Mayor of South Yorkshire for their participation in this launch film.

Whilst this will be proactively rolled out in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, it is an open resource so please do look and contact us with any suggestions or questions.

South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Shows Up is driven by South Yorkshire ICS and the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Cancer Alliance with support from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

Special thanks to the wonderful people at Sheffield Hallam University, the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, the Sheffield College, the NHS and cancer charities for their valuable work in creating the content on the hub. More is to come.
