Eski Work Experience
We’ve had two work experience placements this week at Eski. Graduate Jess has appraised our resources and had some brilliant ideas about how to create inclusive campaigns and media for young people.
Year 10 student Joe from Longcroft School & Sixth Form College spent a week with us for his work experience. In his words, here’s how it went. “My first experience with Eski was as an actor in episode two of the drama series, Circle North; a series of short films focusing on social issues affecting teenagers that was created to be shown in schools in PSHE and personal development lessons.
The episode I was in focused on sharing explicit images of underage children in a school environment and the effects and consequences it can have. I think it is a great idea to promote and raise awareness of children and teens mental health and wellbeing as it is not talked about or improved enough. I was also interested in how the media industry works and knew working for Eski would give me an insight to this.
Across the week I worked on a range of things, and I have really enjoyed it! I have had my first experience working on casting for some upcoming short films being produced by Eski. I have worked with Kelly to help decide who will play certain parts, from a series of self-tape auditions sent to the company.
I have been creating social media content for Circle North for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Facebook – this is something for the older generation such as parents and guardians who want to be informed as their child could be subject to one of the issues in these short films. I have selected a series of stills and clips from a range of the episodes and written captions to go alongside them.
During my work placement, I have also learned how to use Photoshop and how to do graphic design, which I had never really done before. It was interesting to see what goes into designing websites and media posts, and I enjoyed learning how to do this.
I have found the environment at Eski very welcoming, I have felt like I can talk to everyone comfortably, there has not been any awkwardness whatsoever and I have felt very accepted by John, Alice and Keyley. We have had good conversations daily, ranging from football to food to music to the election, and I have felt like I am actually a part of the group over this 5-day period. I have always felt like I had something to do every day and have not felt short of work. It has been a really good experience for me and I am considering maybe going into something like this for a career.
I have had a great week learning about the world of social marketing, and I would like to do something like this again.”
Awww, thanks Joe. You’ve been a pleasure to work with, your efforts have contributed to our work for sure and thank you for the lovely chocolates!
