So long Apprentice years!

“It’s now been 5 months since eskimosoup welcomed me with opened arms and I can honestly say I haven’t looked back since.” I wrote this in a blog as a digital marketing apprentice when I first joined eskimosoup. I am now writing this as the digital marketing coordinator at eskimosoup.

I smoothly transitioned into my new role last Friday and have taken the time to reflect on key moments here so far. To say a lot has happened in the last two years would be an understatement. I’ve been faced with a number of challenges, not to mention having to deal with switching apprenticeship providers and basically having to start the whole process all over again. For me, that felt like a huge kick in the teeth major setback. As always, I received so much support from the team, and I was able to continue to expand and build on my digital marketing expertise for another year.

In a way, having to extend my apprenticeship for another year was a blessing to me. As annoying as that was, I had no choice but to look at the positives. If I had completed it when I was meant to, I don’t think I would’ve had half the confidence I have now; I wouldn’t have as much knowledge to incorporate it into daily tasks like I do now. It sounds cliché, but SO much really does happen in a year.

Within the two years, I’ve been able to witness the campaigns go from strength to strength, as well as welcoming new projects into the eski nest. Whether it be about lung health or young people and the issues they may face, I confidently feel I am able to tackle it in my own ‘Alice way’ and provide the team with the answers and knowledge they need. On a daily basis I am surrounded by people who are incredibly passionate about what they do, which makes it almost impossible to feel like what you do doesn’t matter.

I still believe that going down the apprenticeship route was the right path for me, and I have benefited immensely from it. Although I have now completed it, that doesn’t mean my learning ends there. I have no idea what my career will look like in another two years, but that’s what makes it so exciting – who knows, maybe I could be the next John 😉

Here’s to a career of adventure and opportunities!

Alice, X
