Lucy’s First Month at Eski
Having already met a lot of the team, my expectations of the apprenticeship were already very positive. I couldn’t see how working with such a friendly, hardworking, funny and supportive team could possibly be bad. Now, after having worked at Eski for almost a month, the company has exceeded my expectations. Not only is everyone extremely kind, but the work itself is genuinely interesting, not to mention rewarding.
I had been contemplating for a while what to do after college. To be honest, the plan was to go to university. That’s kind of just, what you do? I’ve always got pretty good grades, and I think colleges push you towards uni if your grades are high. But, when I got an offer to work for Eski, and I realised what an incredible opportunity it was, and my eyes were opened to the opportunities an apprenticeship can provide. And, for me in particular, this job was exactly the kind of thing that I was good at, enjoyed, and wanted to do in the future. So perfect all round really. I’m still learning, as well as gaining real-life industry experience, meaning my portfolio won’t just be made up of pretend assignments, but projects I’ve worked on for real clients.
My first few days at Eski didn’t disappoint. I was thrown straight into work, with a morning to get myself settled, followed by a client meeting the same day. During the week, I was introduced to projects, got to grips with Eski’s systems, and went over to another town to do some recording for a short film. Loads of exciting stuff! As I’m writing this blog post, I’m in my fourth week working at Eski. And in that time, no two days have been the same. I feel like I’m constantly learning new skills, working on new projects, and getting to know more about the marketing industry. I feel excited to come to work, welcomed within a fun yet productive environment, I feel I could not possibly be in a better position in terms of my future.
In the last week or so, I’ve been given more responsibility, including leading on tasks, and being given control of social media platforms. Although the responsibility can be scary, it’s an incredible feeling to know that your team are so supportive and believe in you enough to trust you with important work. It’s massively boosted my confidence and reassured me that I can do anything I put my mind to. I’ve been really enjoying getting involved with projects, and I’m excited to be able to be a part of something from beginning to end, working alongside the Eski team as they work their magic!
I absolutely believe that I made the right choice in doing an apprenticeship with Eski, and although it is by no means easy, it has already proved to be enjoyable, rewarding, and fulfilling. I can’t thank everyone enough for being the best team I could ask for!
Lucy 😊
