It feels like we’re under constant assault from disinformation, designed to provoke emotion and drive engagement for the benefit of online platforms and whatever political or ideological agenda the creator supports.
To help address this, we’ve created a short animation and accompanying message for young people, introducing a simple tool: Pause. It’s designed to help them step back, think critically, and remain objective.
The message applies to adults too. Even when we know we should question what we see, we’re often less analytical when it aligns with our existing beliefs. Once that content enters our algorithm, it can reinforce fears, fuel anger, and shape how we view the world.

We developed this as a value-added resource for Eski clients LLR Violence Reduction Network and Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside. It’s intentionally neutral, avoiding specific examples.
We felt many existing resources were beginning to look a little dated. While there are plans to restrict social media access for under-18s, whatever happens on that front, the underlying message remains relevant. Whatever our individual perspectives, surely we can agree that a post-truth era is a frightening prospect.
