Megan is a marketing executive at eskimosoup, she originally joined the team as an intern for work experience to further her career in marketing and communications. She’s decided to stay in Hull to complete her masters degree (yaas) and continues to work with the team regularly.

How did you get to where you are today?

Lots of hard work and putting myself out there! When I got to university I decided to just say yes to every opportunity that came my way which led to me being one of the few UK students selected to study at Copenhagen Business School for a summer, and undertaking three successful internships that led to me being in this current role! I couldn’t have done any of this without the confidence to put myself out there and ability to bounce back after rejection (which believe me there has been a fair share of throughout my short career!). I’d also say moving away from home to a new city was the big breaking point for me getting where I am today, I don’t think I could have grown in the ways I have from sticking to the same surroundings.

Who are your role models / WCW?

Shakira – Besides being incredibly talented, she’s also worked pretty damn hard to get as big as she is whilst remaining humble to her Colombian roots by supporting charities all across South America.

If you could give advice to a younger you, what would it be?

I’d tell myself to make sure I surround myself with people who are going to help push me to my goals, not those who may distract or pull me away from them. Choosing your friends carefully is definitely important when younger to ensuring you stay true to yourself and where you eventually want to be!

What’s your proudest achievement?

Somehow being able to manage a masters degree and working at Eskimosoup at the same time! I’m also pretty proud that I get to work for a company that encourages and allows me to succeed in both, as I love being able to do both of the things I love.
